About us
We are located in the Kootenays in Southeastern B.C., in the heart
of the Rocky Mountains. Our main camp is a one hour drive from
Cranbrook by 4x4 along the legendary Wildhorse River. We are
known to have one of the most luxurious camps in the Kootenays,
with nicely set cabins, a bath house with flush toilet and shower.
The comfortable living room is situated next to the roomy kitchen
where all the hearty meals are prepared and served.
|
|
There is a tack shed for the saddles and the horses are kept in
corrals, so there is no wasted hunting time in the early morning
hours due to lost horses that have been hobbled.
|
Our trail network is maintained throughout the summer at several places like the Diorite Creek water drainage, which has no road access and is next to no hunting pressure from local hunters. The Diorite is an Ecological Reserve and will never be logged, mined, or explored. We also have the right to hunt parts of the famous "Top of the World Park" with no roads or development except trails for the horses, lots of wilderness, and of course game.
|
|
|
We boost one of the highest Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep
quota in the Kootenay region, which speaks for itself.
|
|
Any spike camp that you will be placed in will be selected based
on the species you are hunting, your age, physical condition, and
your objectives or limitations.
Our main objective at Wild Horse is to give you a good, honest
effort at getting your quality trophy and conducting the hunt
so that you have a true wilderness experience that you will
never forget. All our hunts are fair chase hunts.
|
Success
Overall success varies from year to year according to factors such
as hunter ability and drive, weather and game movement. Many
of our hunters are repeat customers, which we feel says a lot
for our success.
|
Physical Condition
To help ensure a successful and enjoyable hunt it is important
to prepare yourself physically. Our Sheep and Goat hunts take
place in steep rugged mountains with elevations ranging from
5000 to 8500 feet. The better your physical condition, the
greater the chance you have at bagging game. We recommend
that you strive to be in the best physical condition possible.
Conditioning is a year round process, so don't wait and begin
exercising one month prior to the hunt. Prepare yourself well
in advance. Being in shape will help make your hunting
experience more enjoyable.
|
Transportation
Air Canada and Air B.C. provide regular flights from Vancouver B.C. and Calgary Alberta to Cranbrook B.C. We provide transportation from Cranbrook to our main camp and return on completion of your scheduled hunt.

Non-Resident Hunting Preservation Fund
The Non-Resident Hunting Preservation Fund has been established by the Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia (GOABC) to provide funding necessary to help ensure that non-residents will continue to have the opportunity to hunt in British Columbia, Yukon, NWT, and Nunavut.
The Fund is administered by the Board of Directors of GOABC and funds are generated by a US $125 fee contributed by each non-resident client. The fee is collected by the Guide/Outfitter and forwarded to the GOABC. A full accounting of the Fund is provided with the Annual Financial Statements of the Association. Every non-resident hunter contributing to the Fund will have their name put into a special draw for a free hunt. A free sustaining membership with GOABC will also be given to every contributor to the Fund. The membership entitles the holder to be made aware of all meetings, including the annual Convention of GOABC and provides a free one-year subscription to the GOABC magazine BC Hunter, which is published quarterly.
