Black Bear Hunting with Wildhorse River
|
Our Black bears are hunted both in the spring and in conduction with our main species in the fall.
Our Black Bear hunts are conducted from the main camp, which lies approx. 5500 feet above sea level, and spring can be sometimes late. Therefore we only hunt our Bears at our prime time, from May 20th to June 5th when hunting is at its best and our slopes and meadows are slowly starting to green up.
Your chances of harvesting a great trophy are excellent since local hunting pressure in minimal and food is abundant throughout the area.
|
There is a 40-50% chance to harvest a color-phased blond to chocolate brown Bears. Bears taken in our area range from 5 1/2 to 7' measured from nose to tail.
This is a fair chase hunt using spot & stalk technique. The option to use hounds is also available for those looking for a different adrenaline-charged hunt.

Grizzly Bear Hunting with Wildhorse River
|
Our Bear populations are at an all time high, due to the fact that in the last 5-6 years the hunting pressure on our true Silver Tipped mountain Grizzlies has been steadily decreasing throughout the area because of limited permits allocated to resident and non resident hunters, mostly politically motivated, certainly not because of a lack of bears.
So if you're serious about having this hunting opportunity, you should book early. During this hunt, many Black Bears can be observed and 1 Black Bear can be killed which is included in the hunt.

|
We utilize spot and stalk techniques, hunting on slides in the spring when their hides are exceptional with bears ranging from 6 to 8 feet in size. We strongly encourage hunters to shoot male bears only to secure the future generations.
